paintings

Entirely self-taught as a painter, Kevin H. Gray has steeped himself in the milieu and techniques of American Abstract Expressionism and the work of stylistically related European painters. He views the canon of Ab-Ex philosophies and ideologies as an expansively fertile bedrock from which to evolve his own distinctive perspective as a painter, and is firmly committed to the idea that the movement remains a timely and relevant context for his deeply personal style. Among the painters whose unique visions impelled him towards painting are Hans Hofmann, James Brooks, Richard Diebenkorn, Fritz Bultman, Joan Mitchell, John Little, Afro Basaldella, Emilio Vedova, Fred Thieler, and Rolf Cavael.
